Physical Description: James has dark brown hair and blue eyes. He has light skin. His brown hair separates at the forehead into several parts that all seem to go the same way. His eyebrows are the same color as his hair. They are bushy and brown. He wears half-moon shaped glasses. He has a slight mustache and "stubbly" beard. His lips are almost always in a some kind of smile and he is rarely upset. His favorite robe to wear is a brown robe with gold ornamentation on each side. It was a gift to him for his Hogwarts graduation in 2009. He is rarely seen without it. He likes to wear boots of some kind, usually black leather boots. He likes to be a little different every once and a while!
Biography:Nathaniel James Dartshaw was born on April 8, 1953 in a large, peculiar house in the middle of nowhere. He had an eventful childhood. He was the oldest of 8 children. He grew up with a loving pureblood family. One of his childhood activities were playing mock games of Quidditch with friends and family. Although his family was a relatively poor one, he was determined to make the best of what they had. In the year 1964, he received his long-awaited letter to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. During his time at Hogwarts, he excelled in Arithmancy and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Also, during his education, he was a Ravenclaw. During his 5th year, he met a young woman named Jessa Smallforth. She was also a Ravenclaw, but she was a 4th year. During his 6th year (1970), they began dating. They fell very much in love. They were eventually married after both of them had graduated. They were married in 1974, which was near the beginning of the first of two Great Wars between good and evil . He was 20 and she was 19. Two years later, in 1976, they had their first child, a boy, Nathaniel. By the year 1988, they would have eight more children. Including Nathaniel, that brings their total number of children to nine. From 1976 through 1984, James owned a business that sold used spellbooks at discount prices. The store was very successful, but after eight years he chose to close it to spend more time with his family and perhaps discover a new career. Approximately one year later, in 1985, an owl flew through James' window, carrying a letter from then-Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore. It mentioned that they were looking for an Arithmancy professor, and due to his achievements and high marks in the subject, he was asked to come to Hogwarts for an interview. He felt honored and very excited and felt that this was a sign that it was time for a new direction in life. He discussed the opportunity with his wife, Jessa. She said that she would support him in this new career path. With his family's support, he accepted the invitation for the interview and got the job! He was to take his post at the start of the 1985-1986 term. While James was away at Hogwarts during the school term, Jessa and the nine kids made it at home in the same house that he was born in just 30 years ago. During his third year of teaching at Hogwarts (1988), James was appointed to be the Head of his former house, Ravenclaw. He was honored to take on the new duty, but declined due to time and duty restrictions. The position was given to incoming Charms professor, Filius Flitwick. James continued teaching Arithmancy (and later Defense Against the Dark Arts starting in 1999) for 20 years until the 2008-2009 term. At the end of his 20th term of teaching Arithmancy and DADA, he was further honored as being appointed Hogwarts Headmaster, due to his dedication to the school and students. He was to start his administration of the school at the beginning the 2009-2010 term, which brings to us to now. It is the summer of the year 2009! Since beginning at Hogwarts, his nine children have moved on in their lives to begin families of their own. All of his children were Hogwarts students and all of them have gone on to create their own legacies. James is excited to be at the helm of what he describes as "truly the greatest challenge anyone can take on".
