Juliet cautiously stepped forward, suddenly nervous. She could feel the stares of the other students, from the calm, older kids sitting at their house tables, to the other first years waiting on line, most of whom looked as nervous as she. She sat down on the wooden stool, feeling self-conscious. As the hat was placed upon her head, she wondered what house she'd be in. She wasn't particularly sure which was best.
...Juliet was beginning to get a bit impatient.
...Juliet began deciding in her thoughts. Though both her parents and brother were muggles, her aunt was a witch. She told her wonderful stories of her days in Hogwarts, and all the fun times she had with her Ravenclaw friends. On the way to Hogwarts though, on the train, a second year befriended her and told her about all the houses. She told of how the best house was Slytherin, and all the coolest kids were in that house. She told Juliet she was unlikely to be in Slytherin, because she's a muggle-born, but Juliet was hopeful. Katie, that was the second year's name.
Katie told her that the Ravenclaws were clever, and it was the second best house to be sorted into. She told her of the fierce and bitter rivalry between the Gryffindors and Slytherin.
Juliet just hoped she didn't get stuck in Hufflepuff. Katie told her that if she got into Hufflepuff, she might as well just leave Hogwarts.
Juliet waited for the Sorting Hat to place her in her house, wishing and hoping she was in Slytherin, so she'd know at least one person.
