Out of the night that covers me, Black as a pit form pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. Sam and Dean Winchester have lots of friends, to help and guide them. Lots of people to help them get through their Hunts. Friends and allies like Bobby and Ellen. And the Hunter’s communities are full of people with connections and resources and knowledge. Without these people, the darkness that is always on the doorstep would be wreaking havoc without boundaries. Without these people, so many would be lost to the night. In the fell clutch of circumstance, I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeoning of chance, My head is bloody, but unbowed. And that is what Invictus means. It’s Latin for unconquerable, which is the basis of the Hunters. When everyone else has stepped down, of fallen in the field, these are the people who keep going. They are the rock hard force that will never give in, because they will keep fighting to the last man. If the Hunters have to go out at all, they’re going to go down swinging. This is their story. It matters not how straight the gate, Nor how charged with punishment the scroll. I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.
