Katie and the horrible robes

Katie went into the shop "Merlin, these are dreadful." she said.

Her mother laughed behind her. "You have to wear robes at Hogwarts dear."

"But mom ! They're ugly !" pouted Katie. "They're like black blankets that you hide in. How could any girl wear these ?"

With a smile, her mom answered. "Well maybe that's the idea. If the boys can't see how cute you are they might be able to get some studying done."

Katie sighed and nodded. "Guess you're right." she said.

She walked to the counter. "I need some robes please." she asked. "Do you have anything more flattering ? Something that lets a girl look like a girl ?"

Madam Malkin looked down at Katie. "These are the standard robes for first year students at Hogwarts. They have been quite popular with Ravenclaw and Gryffindor girls. If you want them, they will cost you five galleons."

Katie smiled as best she could. She looked at her mother and her mother smiled back.

"Yea, OK, I''ll take them." Katie said and paid for the robes.
