As Brooke wandered through the Owlery, she wondered how many times it was cleaned in months. The entire tower was covered in owl feces and there were almost a hundred different "HOOTS" going at the same time. It took her a while to find Jefferson in the mess of owls. His Barn Owl face was unique, there weren't many Barn Owls. She smiled as he flew down to her, he was a new pet for her, but she felt as though she'd known him forever.
"How are you Jeff?" Brooke asked, cutely. Jefferson gave her what looked like an angry look. "Oh, sorry. I guess you prefer Jefferson." He then nibbled on her finger affectionately. "Here's a letter for uncle Bryan. Make sure he gets it...and that none of the animals eat it."
Dear Uncle Bryan,
Wow. Hogwarts has been almost everything you've said it was. Classes haven't started yet, but I'm already learning a lot about wizards, I don't have too many friends yet, but I'm sure they will come with time.
How are the animals doing? Tell Missy and Humphrey and Penny that I miss them terribly. Don't forget to give Lilac my love and tell Grim not to get too grumpy. Write me about any newcomers. Hogwarts has a beautiful library and I could send you information on them, if you'd like.
I really miss you and I might come home on the holidays. Love, Brooke Edwards

A few days later, while walking the school halls, Brooke heard a familiar hoot. She turning, smiling, to see Jefferson flying towards her. She was so incredibly happy to see him with a letter. He landed next to her in the hall, which was surprising empty. He stuck out his leg, waiting impatiently for her to remove the letter.
Brooke untied it quickly and watched Jefferson fly away. She then lifted the letter up and smiled at her Uncle Bryan's messy writing.
