An eleven year-old Brayden Mellor wasn't exactly used to spending this much time by himself, but his parents had told him it was necessary for him and his 'character'. They'd sent the boy off to purchase his school things all on his own, aided only by on the family's magic bags, which had a near-infinite amount of space and very little weight. The less weight the better for the scrawny, brown-haired boy. He had spent nearly all day in and around Diagon Alley and as a result was one purchase away from being able to return home. All he needed was his wand and Ollivander's was the place he need to go. Brayden said a curt farewell to Madam Malkin after he paid for his robes and was quickly off to the wand establishment.
Having a look through the dusty window of the shop, he noticed it was empty, or at least mostly empty. There was just one little, old man carefully dusting a unique carving on the wall, he being the famous Mr. Ollivander. Brayden pushed open the squeaky, old door and a tinkle bell rang over head. Mr. Ollivander turned to the boy and gave him a quick one-over.
"Ah, the young mister Mellor, I presume," said Mr. Ollivander in a squeaky voice. Brayden was slightly impressed at his powers of observation, but preferred not to show it.
"Yes, and you're Mr. Ollivander, I take it," Brayden replied, trying to look unperturbed as he glanced around the small, shabby shop. His nose scrunched in slight distaste. It was nothing like his beautifully furnished home, not even when he squinted.
Mr. Ollivander simply chuckled before asking, "measurements?"
Brayden looked at the old man, slightly confused before realising what he meant. "Oh, they would be nine, six, one and eleven," he answered.

"Ah, Mr. Mellor. Such interesting measurements!" Mr. Ollivander said. "I see the perfect wand for you is this one: a yew wand, which is nine and three-quarters length. It has a core of unicorn tail hair and is superb with the Dark Arts. Brayden gave Mr. Ollivander the fifteen galleons owed to him for the wand. Brayden walked out of the store eager to get back home!
