Level 1 Transfiguration: Lesson #1: Fera Verto

[Prof. Kaylee Ginger]

The door to the Transfiguration classroom is held open, allowing you to see the classroom. Instead of having the normal, boring rows of desks, cushions have been set up in the middle of the classroom, making a huge circle. Around the room are some magical creatures, some have their fur changing colors.

A black cat rests on the desk, watching the door intently, waiting for new students to come through the door. Next to the cat, leaning causally against her desk, is Professor Porter. She has her glasses on, a clipboard in one arm and a cup of coffee in her hand.

The board behind her says:

Please take a seat, class will begin soon

ooc: Class will offically begin around 8:00 P.M Central Time Zone (-5 GMT), or when we have enough students in class. Keep the chatting to a minimum (it's ok to talk a little bit)

[Duncan Mowbray]

Duncan entered and smiled. He took a seat near the front that looked comfortable and had a good view.

OOC: unfortunately real life isn't going to let me be part of the class/chat because I will be helping kids with their homework and getting them into bed etc. I hope something is set up for those of us that can't physically be there.

[Katie Carter]

OOC by the time I get done with classes and supper I will go to work and probably will miss the whole thing too ! waaahhhh!!!

Katie jogged in and waived at the prefossor in a freindly fashion. She sat beside Duncan. "Hi bro. How ya doin ?"

OOC: Ok, guys, if you read my OOC correctly, I said that class would start at 8:00 OR when we have enough students. And class will be going on for a couple days, so you won't miss anything, I'll also probably have links in the first post to very important posts.

Looking up from her clipboard as she heard someone enter the room, Kaylee smiled at the young Gryffindor door. "Hello Duncan, great to see you." She said, before returning to her clipboard and writing something down for the next lesson.

Setting the clipboard down on her desk next to Eclipse (and give him a quick starch behind his ear), Kaylee smiled and gave a small wave to the Hufflepuff. Something told she would like the student.

Looking at her watching and glancing at the door, Kaylee cleared her throat. "Hmm...I wonder where everyone is." She said, mostly towards herself. "Well, we'll wait a couple more minutes." She said to the two students.

[Katie Carter]

KAtie smiled at the professor. "I'm always first." She said. "Or Duncan is. He's really annoying that way." she said in an obviously friendly, playful voice.

"Professor Fandale never showed up for class. People might not all know that classes are really going to happen now." Katie added.

OOC: It's duncan's fault I misunderstood. After I read his post I misinterpretted yours. Duncan -

[Brooke Edwards]

Brooke wandered in to the class with light blond hair. She didn’t usually have blond hair, but today she though it might be fun. Her eyes were a simple blue and she had freckles dotting her cheeks. She held her Transfiguration books in her arms across her chest with her book bag slung across her shoulder.

She walked in on the new Professor talking to Duncan and Katie at the front of the room. Brooke hoped she was unnoticed as she sat at the back. She watched the back of Katie’s head and wondered if she should say hi to her roommate. Brooke pulled out her books slowly and grabbed an empty piece of parchment. Noticing the black cat on the desk Brooke began a simply sketch of it. She thought it was quite cute.

Brooke couldn’t wait to begin Transfiguration. She had been excited for the class for a long time. Brooke had already read through her book, twice. She looked up at the new teacher while drawing and frowned a little. She seemed so young and kind, unlike any of the other teachers at Hogwarts so far. Brooke hoped she would be a good teacher and a good head of house.

Nodding her head, Kaylee walked back to her desk leaning against, and began petting Eclipse softly.

Eclipse looked up at Kaylee, purring softly. She gave such great ear scratches, but apparently she was to busy teaching. Setting his head back down on his front paws, Eclipse continued staring intensely at the door.

Kaylee smiled as another student entered. 'Great! Three students! Now we need another 4 students...great...' "Hello." She said to the girl, noticing the girl frown at her slightly, Kaylee chuckled. "Not as old as you excepted me to be, huh?" She asked looking down at her watch to check the time. Looking back up, Kaylee also noticed the girl staring at Eclipse, well lot of people did, it was totally normal.

Eclipse lifted his head, watching the girl as she sat down and took something out. Then she began staring at him, then at whatever she took out, then at him, the at the thing, then at him. Hmm....what was she doing, should he pose? No, to weird for him.

[Oliver Hughes]

Yawning, Olive slumped in to the transfiguration class room. His golden hair was a huge mess on top of his head. It splayed in different directions and Oliver didn’t do anything to make in lie flat. He bright blue eyes were glazed over and they had dark circles underneath them. He didn’t talk much as he walked in to the odd classroom. He didn’t even notice it was different, except for the pillows.

Once Oliver had spotted them he collapsed on to one of them. He had been up late practicing and reading for Potions. He knew that Professor Mellor would be on his back about it if he didn’t practice or get it done. Oliver was lying on the floor, with his head in the pillow, dreaming about Quidditch. There was nothing more exciting in the whole world.

So there were four student out of the seven she had in class, that was pretty good, it was half of them, sort of. Taking her glasses off she looked at the class, noticing that one of the boys was actually lying on the pillow. Chuckling Kaylee walked over by him. "Mr. Hughes, the cushions are meant to be sat upon, not to sleep on. Sit up please."

Walking back to the front of the class, Kaylee cleared her throat and smiled at the students. "Alright class, let's begin." She said glancing at her lesson plan. "Today we'll be learning about the spell Fera Verto." Kaylee said, saying the syllables clearly. "Can anybody tell me what the spell does?" She asked looking at some of the students.

[Ceta Nightingale]

Ceta rushed into the room, she was running late - but in her defense she had only just got the message class was back on!
She accidentally dropped her books, and blushed a deep shade of crimson as she scrambled to pick them all up again. She was trying not to make a bad impression, after all this was the first time she had met this Professor - unfortunately the impression she had wanted to make was not going to be made this time!

She quickly took a seat on a cushion on the floor while apologizing to the new Professor, and looked around at the other students - she wondered where Galagron was after all she was sure he had this class.
Calming her breathing from running up the halls to get to class, she finally took out her parchment and paper to take notes....

Duncan raised his hand. His answer "Fera Vertoa transforms animals into water goblets."
OOC: If prof wants to call on somebody else it's OK with me.

[Katie Carter]

Katie waved to Oliver and to Brooke. She was liking the professor and liked the class so far, she even knew about the spell they were doing. She hoped she could do it when it was her turn.

"Correct, one point to Gryffindor." Kaylee said smiling at Duncan. "So, as you now know, Fera Verto is a spell that turns animals into water goblets." She said returning her attention to the whole class. "Now I need two volunteers please." She said heading towards where the storage supplies was. She took out two large boxes that had little boxes the contained stunned mice in them.

Setting the boxes down on her desk she asked the class, "Now the incantation is Fera Verto, obviously, but who can tell the wand movement? "

Katie raised her hand akwardly, only half hoping to be called. "I can't actually tell you how to do it, but I can show how to do it."

She took a deep breathe and thought 'OK girl, do not screw up'. She performed the motions as best as she remembered and said "Fera Verto !"

OOC: and I'd like the prof to determine how well I did

"Katie no!" Kaylee yelled as the girl preformed the spell. The mouse began to squeal violently, making jerking movements. Kaylee picked her wand up from her desk and pointed it at the poor little mouse. It stopped its squealing, and the jerkish movement stopped. Sighing, Kaylee walked over to the desk and picked the mouse up, taking it back to her desk and setting it down in one of the cages.

She gave Eclipse a warning gaze that if he tried to eat the creature, she'd probably kill him (just joking, just a little spank). "Ms. Carter, please see me after class." Kaylee said sternly. Kaylee hated having to see students after class about something bad, but she had no choice.

Turning back to the class, she continued class, acting as if nothing had happened. "Alright, the wand movement is just tap the mouse three times then point at the animal, and say the incantation." She said walking over to the perch. "If you preform this correctly the light should be crystal clear." She looked at the class, waiting to see if they understood.
