James approached a gargoyle-like statue sitting in a small alcove on the right hand side of the wall. "Troll bogies!" he whispered. At the command of the middle-aged man, the statue slid beneath the floor to reveal a wooden door. James opened the door and marveled at his new office. James, who had never been inside the Headmaster's office, walked over to the large mahogany desk and sat down in the large golden chair. He looked out and saw above the great fireplace the portraits of all those great wizards and witches who had led the school before him. Most notably, he saw Albus Dumbledore sleeping in his portrait and Minerva McGonagall giving a very stern look to James. James spent hours that day studying the many objects bequeathed to the school and reading the ancient, well-worn books that were stacked on tall bookshelves as high as the ceiling. As he left his office later that evening, he took one last look at all of the portraits hanging above the fireplace, feeling honored to be given one of the most rewarding and prestigious positions in the wizarding community.
