OOC: the timing is important. This was after the trip into the forbidden forest.

Duncan rushed to where Hawkes fell "HAWKES !" he yelled, concerned for the boy.

He was astonished that there was nothing there, no injured boy, no dead body, nothing.

Then he heard Lilah's screams of pain and ran towards her. "holy shit ! how can she be casting the cruciatus curse on herself ?" duncan asked himself, surprised and amazed.

He knew that he had to do something fast and he got an idea. He held his wand to his throat again, amplifying his voice incredibly, the he sang.

Clear, sharp, bright vibrant notes that seemed like they had never been sung by a mortal poured from his mouth and echoed thru most of Hogwarts. It was the song from Pan, the song Lilah and Duncan learned in the forbidden foresst.

He felt bright and alive and vigorous. He hoped it would help Lilah.

Magically magnified voices made Mist rush to the scene. She was horrified at the sight, a Katie lying on the floor, white as a sheet; Lilah rolling on the floor in pain; Duncan SINGING through all of it, and, although she could have swore a few people yell something to Hawkes, he was not there. Confused, she hurried over to the singing Duncan.
"Duncan? DUNCAN? DUNCAN! Tell me, what's going ON here?!" Mist screamed.

OOC: for those that didn't read the exploring the forbidden forest posts, the song is magical and full of power and light. Hearing it should/will fill you with wonder and awe as you hear the song of the universe ( or at least the prelude ). Duncan is hoping the magic can pull Lilah out of her self hate and self torture.

Duncan paused and looked at Lilah as he spoke to Mist. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his shrunken guitar and expanded it toit's normal size.

"It's the song that Pan taught to Merlin. Me and Lilah learned it from Pan in the forbidden forest. It's very stron and I hope it can pull her back out of her madness."

Duncan began to play the tune and sing the song. The effect, though not as loud, was even more powerful in voice and an instrament. It was like light and strength were carried on the notes.

OOC: works for me I was wondering how I'd get outta this funk.
In Character:

Katie was laying on the ground, crying and shaking and feeling alone in the world except for Duncan's voice trying to reach her and his warm supporting hand on her face. Then suddenly he was gone and it felt like she got slapped in the face.

She cried and shok and all the color drained from her before Mist got there.

Then she heard, felt, a something - a song. She felt it filling her like food for a starving man or chicken soup for the broken hearted girl. She could feel herself begin to move. She recognized the voice.

"Duncan." she whispered with the flicker of a smiled, still too weak to be heard.

Then the music stopped. She sat up suddenly and saw Duncan talk to Mist amd get out his guitar. He sand AND played and it covered Katie like a warm blanket. She smiled and managed to stand up.

She saw Lilah and moved towards the screaming girl. "No Lilah, this is the wrong way to go." she said caringly. Somehow the music helped her be stronger.

Lilah felt the electric current in her body wear down and it suddenly ... stopped.

Because Katie was worried about the unmoving girl in front of her, as soon as Lilah went still, Katie took Lilah's wand and put it in her own pack.

'Even Voldemorte couldn't cast that spell without a wand' Katie hought.

Katie sat on the ground beside Lilah and pulled the other girl into her arms and stroked her hair "You didn't do anything wrong, love." Katie said "Both of us made a bad choice and our choice wasn't... stable. He was a poor troubled boy and we should be sad for him." she spoke comfortingly as Dunacn played.

OCC: since Duncan didn't say he stopped I'm figuring he is still playing.

"He- me kill." Lilah could only choke those words out of her mouth in katies arms listening to Duncan play the song in the forest made her remember how it felt when she liked duncan. sweet sweet duncan

Duncan noticed that Lilah was no longer cursing herself. He walked to her and stopped the song.

He looked strange - full of life and vitality, but also like he had run a marathon or maybe stayed awake three nights in a row. He plopped onto the ground beside Katie and Lilah, he wobbled and looked like he would fall over, despite the smile on his face. "You two ok ?" he asked with a shakey voice.

"Man, that took a lot outta me." he said and took a deep breath. "I thnk there's a lot more to learn."

He looked back and forth between the two girls. "How are you ?"

Mist squatted beside them.
"Everyone OK?" she whispered. Duncan, have you looked for him? Is he there?"
